Apple iPhone (iOS) NFC Capabilities

Apple’s iPhone supports NFC functionality for all models of iPhone newer than the iPhone XS/XR (released 2018); older models of the iPhone have limited or no support for NFC. The iPhone supports reading some NFC tags natively via background tag reading. 3rd party apps can use the iOS Core NFC Framework to integrate NFC functionality into their apps. Apple continues to add NFC functionality throughout their product ecosystem.
